Free agent reliever Francisco Rodriguez is back with the Milwaukee Brewers.

“K-Rod” agreed to a two-year deal with a team option for a third year and helps solidify a bullpen the Brewers tried to improve via trade until talks with the Philadelphia Phillies for Jonathan Papelbon deteriorated.
The Miami Marlins were also in the bidding for Rodriguez, who chose to return to Milwaukee on Thursday.

The 33-year-old Rodriguez closed 44 games for the Brewers in 2014, when he earned his fifth All-Star selection.

In four seasons with Milwaukee, Rodriguez is 12-13 with a 3.11 ERA and 57 saves.

He was acquired by the Brewers from the New York Mets in July 2011.
