The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free agent right-handed pitcher Dustin McGowan to a one-year contract Monday and placed newly signed right-hander Brandon Beachy on the 60-day disabled list.

The Dodgers signed Beachy to a one-year deal, which includes a team option for the 2016 season, on Saturday. Beachy, 28, was expected to begin the season on the disabled list, as he continues to recover from his second Tommy John surgery — which kept him out for all of 2014. Beachy, non-tendered by the Atlanta Braves in December, has pitched in only five major league games over the past two seasons and 18 over the past three.

McGowan has a 25-27 career record with a 4.57 ERA in 158 games (68 starts) in seven major league seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2005-08, 2011, 2013-14. In 90 career relief appearances, McGowan has posted a 4-1 record with a 3.79 ERA. He has 392 strikeouts and 199 walks in 482 1/3 innings.

McGowan, 32, made a career-high 53 appearances (eight starts) for the Blue Jays last year, going 5-3 with a 4.17 ERA and his first-career save.
