The Los Angeles Dodgers designated reliever Brian Wilson for assignment on Tuesday after he struggled last season.
Wilson is due $9.5 million in 2015 signing a two-year, $20 million contract after the 2013 season.
Last year, Wilson posted a 2-4 record with one save and a 4.66 ERA in 48 1/3 innings with 29 walks and 54 strikeouts. He has battled arm problems the past few years.
The 32-year-old right-hander is likely to clear waivers and then be released by the Dodgers.
Wilson was a dominant closer for the San Francisco Giants from 2008 to 2011 with seasons of 41, 38, 48 and 36 saves. He has a career 24-25 record with 172 saves and a 3.32 ERA.
