The Kansas City Royals finalized a one-year, $11 million contract agreement with free-agent outfielder Alex Rios on Friday that also has a mutual option for 2016.

Rios is expected to take over in right field for Nori Aoki. The deal calls for Rios to make $9.5 million in 2015 and $12.5 million in 2016 with a $1.5 million buyout.

Rios, 33, hit .280 with four home runs and 54 RBIs in 131 games for the Texas Rangers this past season. The Royals are hoping for an offensive boost from Rios in their lineup next year.

He became a free agent when the Rangers declined his $13.5 million club option for 2015.

Ankle and thumb injuries plagued Rios in 2014. While splitting time with the Rangers and Chicago White Sox in 2013, he hit .278 with 18 homers and 108 RBIs.
