The Houston Astros signed right-hander Roberto Hernandez to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training on Thursday.
The 34-year-old Hernandez pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers last year, logging a combined 8-11 record with a 4.10 ERA in 165 innings.
Formerly known as Fausto Carmona, Hernandez is a nine-year veteran with a 67-93 career record and a 4.60 ERA for the Cleveland Indians, Tampa Bay Rays, Phillies and Dodgers.
Hernandez was selected for the All-Star Game in 2010.
