Detroit Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander left Friday’s spring training game as a precaution with a cramp in his right triceps muscle.

The team said Verlander will be re-evaluated Saturday but don’t expect him to miss his next scheduled spring start.

The 32-year-old Verlander left in the third inning after covering first base on a ground ball against the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin, Fla. Verlander was visited on the mound by manager Brad Ausmus, pitching coach Jeff Jones and the trainer. It was decided for Verlander to leave the game, even though he did not appear to be injured.

Overall this spring, Verlander has a 6.08 ERA in four starts.

Last season, Verlander finished 15-12 with a 4.54 ERA and 159 strikeouts. He is a six-time All-Star and won the MVP and Cy Young awards in 2011.
