The Baltimore Orioles sold the contracts of two players Tuesday, sending infielder Steve Lombardozzi to the Pittsburgh Pirates and catcher Michael Ohlman to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Neither player was on Baltimore’s 40-man roster. Lombardozzi was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk in December. Ohlman was designated for assignment on Jan. 27 to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for newly acquired outfielder Travis Snider.

Lombardozzi, 26, hit .288 with a .297 on-base percentage, a .329 slugging percentage, no homers and two RBIs in 20 games with Baltimore last year. He spent the bulk of the season with Norfolk, batting .270/.307/.311 with no homers and 30 RBIs in 78 games.

He received an invitation to the Pirates’ major league spring camp.

Over four major league seasons, the first three with the Washington Nationals, Lombardozzi has a .266/.297/.341 batting line with five homers and 52 RBIs in 277 games.

Ohlman, 24, hit .236/.310/.318 with two homers and 33 RBIs in 113 games for Double-A Bowie last year. An 11th-round draft pick by Baltimore in 2009, Ohlman has no major league experience.
