The New York Yankees acquired right-hander Chris Martin in a trade with the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday for cash considerations.

To clear space on the 40-man roster, the Yankees designated right-hander Gonzalez Germen for assignment.

The 28-year-old Martin pitched 16 games in relief last season for the Rockies in his first major league action and had a 0-0 record with a 6.89 ERA. He also worked in 25 games for Triple-A Colorado Springs and went 1-3 with a 4.39 ERA.

In 126 career minor league appearances from 2010 to 2014, Martin has a 19-14 record with 14 saves and a 3.09 ERA.
