The Colorado Rockies demoted veteran outfielder Drew Stubbs to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday and called up outfielder Brandon Barnes.
Stubbs, 30, is hitting .118 with two home runs and five RBIs while making $5.8 million. He has struck out 31 times in 56 plate appearances.
Barnes, 29, is hitting .205 with five homers, 12 RBIs and seven stolen bases for the Isotopes. He played in 132 games for the Rockies last season, hitting .257 with eight homers.
