All-Star right-hander Johnny Cueto of the Cincinnati Reds had an MRI exam that showed no structural damage to his ailing right elbow.

Cueto’s injury, termed “right elbow stiffness” by the Reds, forced him to miss a start. He was skipped in his scheduled rotation spot Sunday and examined Monday.

The medical report confirmed manager Bryan Price’s assessment of the ace’s elbow.

“We don’t think it’s a serious injury. We did all the stuff that we need to do just to verify that everything’s OK,” Price said. “Hopefully, he’ll miss one start and be back the next time.”

With a day off Thursday, the Reds could bring Cueto back this weekend.

The 29-year-old Cueto has made nine starts this season and has a 3-4 record with a 3.03 ERA in 65 1/3 innings.
