Outfielder Melky Cabrera agreed to a three-year, $45 million contract with the Chicago White Sox, according to a report Saturday night.

The completion of the deal is pending a physical, 670TheScore.com reported.

Cabrera spent the past two seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays and last year batted .301 with 16 home runs and 73 RBIs in 139 games while playing mostly left field.

The 30-year-old Cabrera is returning to the American League Central, where he played for the Kansas City Royals and batted .305 with 18 home runs, 87 RBIs and 20 stolen bases in 2011.

The Seattle Mariners were among the teams in pursuit of Cabrera. They offered Cabrera a three-year contract on Friday that he apparently turned down.

The White Sox continued a busy offseason that includes the addition of right-handed starter Jeff Samardzija, closer David Robertson and 1B/DH Adam LaRoche.
