Outfielder-designated hitter Delmon Young will remain with the Baltimore Orioles for a second season after a one-year, $2.25 million contract for 2015 was finalized on Friday.

Young, who had agreed to terms on Dec. 24, completed a physical this week. The $2.25 million will be his base salary for 2015 with incentives that could boost the total value to $3 million.

The 29-year-old Young batted .302, going 10 for 20 as a pinch hitter, with seven home runs and 30 RBIs in 83 games last season. One of his biggest hits of the season was a three-run, pinch-double against the Detroit Tigers in Game 2 of the American League Division Series.

Young has a career .283 batting average in 1,066 games.

To clear space on the 40-man roster, the Orioles designated catcher Ryan Lavarnway for assignment. Lavarnway was picked up off waivers from the Chicago Cubs in December.

A former Boston Red Sox prospect, Lavarnway hit just .201 in 97 major league games covering four seasons with the Red Sox.
