The Arizona Diamondbacks reportedly have agreed to a lucrative contract with Cuban slugger Yasmany Tomas.

The deal will be worth $68.5 million over six years, according to MLB.com sources, who say the contract includes an opt-out clause after four seasons. The deal is pending a physical, MLB.com reported.

Tomas, 24, has played outfield for the Havana Industriales for most of the past seven years and figures to play left field for Arizona.

Tomas would be the latest Cuban star to be signed to a rich contract by a major league team. The Boston Red Sox made Rusney Castillo the highest-paid Cuban player when they signed him to a seven-year, $72.5 million deal in August.

Arizona, which had the worst record in the majors last season, has been aggressive under new general manager Dave Stewart and Chief Baseball Officer Tony La Russa. They previously acquired pitcher Jeremy Hellickson from Tampa for a pair of minor league prospects.
