The Toronto Blue Jays are losing designated hitter-first baseman Adam Lind for six to eight weeks with a broken bone in his right foot.

Lind had an MRI on Tuesday that detected a non-displaced fracture. The foot had bothered Lind this month and he thought it might be a bruise.

“My mom wanted me to get an MRI — which I hadn’t had yet — because it wasn’t getting any better,” Lind said after the Blue Jays’ 8-7 loss to the Angels on Wednesday. “So I asked for an MRI and it showed up.”

The 30-year-old Lind is batting .320 with four home runs and 27 RBIs in 61 games this season.

The Blue Jays likely will move right fielder Jose Bautista to first base and use Nolan Reimold in right field and as a DH until Lind returns from the injury.

Lind joins teammates Edward Encarnacion and Brett Lawrie on the disabled list.
