Boston Red Sox right-hander Joe Kelly left Monday’s start in the middle of the third inning with tightness in his biceps.

Kelly appeared to be in some discomfort after delivering a pitch to New York Mets catcher Anthony Recker in the spring training game in Fort Myers, Fla. Kelly exited in the middle of the at-bat.

Kelly said later he has had the problem before, but he didn’t seem concerned.

“Usually, it doesn’t last long,” he said.

Kelly, 26, made 17 starts for the St. Louis Cardinals and Red Sox last year, missing time with a hamstring strain. In 2014, he was 6-4 in with a 4.20 ERA. In three seasons, he is 21-16 in 78 games (48 starts) with a 3.41 ERA.
