Georgia running back Todd Gurley did not make the trip Friday with the rest of the team and won’t play Saturday against Arkansas.

Coach Mark Richt said Thursday that the No. 10 Bulldogs were not planning on the junior playing as school officials investigate allegations that he was paid for signing memorabilia.

Georgia senior associate athletic director for sports communications Claude Felton confirmed to ESPN.com the latest on Gurley’s playing status.

Gurley returned to practice Monday, but a final ruling from the NCAA is required before he can participate in a game.

The NCAA sent out a tweet Thursday saying it was continuing to work with Georgia and awaiting the school’s request for reinstatement.

The university said in a statement Thursday that school officials met with NCAA representatives in Indianapolis and discussed Gurley but that nothing was decided.

Gurley, a Heisman Trophy candidate and the SEC’s rushing leader with 773 yards, has been suspended since Oct. 9.

Without Gurley last week, Georgia (5-1, 3-1 SEC) banded together for a 34-0 shutout at Missouri. Freshman running back Nick Chubb did his best Gurley impersonation, rushing for 143 yards and a touchdown.
