Arkansas was fined $25,000 by the SEC on Monday after fans stormed the field Saturday to celebrate the school’s first SEC victory after a 17-game losing streak.

It is at least the sixth celebration fine this season by the SEC, which instituted the ban in 2004. LSU, Mississippi and Kentucky all have been punished as well.

The Razorbacks’ 17-0 win over LSU in the Battle of the Boot on Saturday was the first conference win for coach Bret Bielema since he was hired from Wisconsin after the 2012 season. He had lost 13 straight SEC contests.

“Celebration of a victory is understandable and appreciated but should be exhibited in the appropriate manner,” SEC commissioner Mike Slive said. “We cannot forget that significant risk of injury for student-athletes and fans alike can result from incidents such as this.”

Arkansas also was fined after fans stormed the court following a basketball victory over Florida in 2006.
