The season is over and the college career has ended for the nation’s leader in passing touchdowns, passing yards and completions per game.

Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday suffered a broken leg in the first quarter of Saturday’s 44-17 loss to USC. After completing a third-down pass, Halliday’s right leg got caught beneath a Trojans lineman.

Cougars coach Mike Leach broke the news Monday and Halladay was crushed. He tweeted: 22 years of hard work I was 3 … games away from my dream 3 freakin games away from being drafted and living my dream.

While widely unknown as a high school quarterback, Halliday has left his mark in the NCAA record book. Last season, he tied the NCAA Division I record for completions and broke Drew Brees’ record for pass attempts. He also tied an NCAA bowl record with six touchdown passes.
