Stanford offensive guard David Yankey, a first-team Associated Press All-American this past season, will give up his final year of eligibility to enter the 2014 NFL Draft.
Yankey could have returned for a fifth year next fall, but he will earn his degree from Stanford this spring and decided to turn pro.
“I reached my decision following conversations with family and coaches, and am greatly looking forward to the next chapter in life,” Yankey said in a statement. “The decision was not easy. I have loved my time at Stanford and am a proud member of Nerd Nation. I am humbled at the prospect of joining a long list of Stanford alumni currently playing in the NFL.”
Yankey, who played tackle in 2012 before moving to guard this season, is rated the No. 1 offensive guard prospect for the 2015 NFL Draft by NFLDraftScout.com.
