Virginia TE McGee transfers to Florida

Tight end Jake McGee of Virginia announced on Friday via Twitter that he is transferring to Florida.

McGee made his intention to transfer public at the end of April and since he has graduated from Virginia, he will be eligible play for the Gators right away.

“I will be playing my 5th year at The University of Florida. GO Gators!” McGee wrote in the tweet.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound McGee was Virginia’s leading receiver in last season with 43 receptions for 395 yards and two touchdowns.

Over the list two seasons, he had 71 catches for 769 yards and seven touchdowns, and the native of Richmond, Va., was on the Mackey Award watch list before the 2013 season.
