Ohio State All-American defensive end Joey Bosa and three other players were suspended for the 2015 opener for a violation of athletic department policy.
Sophomore H-back Jalin Marshall, senior receiver Corey Smith and junior H-back Dontre Wilson also were suspended.
Bosa was a first-team All-American and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2014. He is projected to be a top-10 draft pick in 2016 if he declared for the NFL.
Smith is the second-leading returning receiver for Ohio State; he caught 20 passes for 255 yards last season.
Converted quarterback Braxton Miller could factor in at H-back to fill the void left by Marshall and Wilson.
The Buckeyes begin the season Sept. 7 against Virginia Tech, which upset Ohio State in Columbus last season.
The Buckeyes were ranked No. 1 in the preseason coaches poll released Thursday.
