Michigan wide receiver and return specialist Dennis Norfleet is apparently no longer a member of the team.

MLive.come reported Tuesday that Dale Harvel, Norfleet’s high school coach in Detroit, said the Wolverines senior was removed from coach Jim Harbaugh’s team.

“Evidently, he was dismissed from the team, Dennis informed us he was no longer on the team,” Harvel told MLive.com. “Something about a disciplinary thing between him and Coach Harbaugh. Whether it was academics or something internal, I’m not sure. He just said they had a disagreement and he was let go.”

An additional report suggested the possibility of academics as the cause for Norfleet’s dismissal after he allegedly skipped several final exams in April.

Norfleet set Michigan career records for most kickoff returns with 94 and kickoff return yardage with 2,203 in three years. At the end of spring practice, Harbaugh indicated that he might use Norfleet on offense, defense and special teams in 2015.

The Norfleet news comes a day after Michigan made headlines for self-reporting minor NCAA violations under Harbaugh.
