Whether former Texas head coach Mack Brown is interested in coaching at SMU is unclear, but SMU reportedly is doing its best to lure Brown financially.
The Dallas Morning News reported that sources claim SMU officials had preliminary discussions with Brown, floating an offer of $4 million annually over eight years.
That would be more than twice the salary SMU paid June Jones, who was making $1.9 million per year before resigning earlier this season.
According to the report, SMU is spurred on by the fact that high-profile basketball coach Larry Brown has created a winner and strong following with the Mustangs basketball team.
Brown, 63, is currently serving as a college football analyst for ESPN.
